Speakers

Adam Borgatti, Vice President, Investor Relations, Bank of Nova Scotia

Adam Borgatti joined Scotiabank in June 2017 as Vice President, Investor Relations.  Adam is responsible for communicating Scotiabank’s financial performance and strategy to the investment community as well as proactively managing the Bank’s relationships with institutional investors, sell-side analysts and rating agencies. Adam joined Scotiabank from one of Canada’s largest and most diverse infrastructure development companies, where he was Vice President, Corporate Development & Investor Relations focusing on Finance, Strategy, Business Development and Investor Relations. In this role, Adam was recognized as a TopGun Investor Relations executive by Brendan Wood International and won two IR Magazine Awards – Canada. Prior to this, Adam spent 10 years in Capital Markets working in the Investment Banking divisions of two of Canada’s leading banks. Adam began his career working for a global energy company in Houston, Texas where he focused on international asset development and acquisition opportunities. 

Adam holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from McGill University, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR).


Janet Craig, Principal, Endeavour IR
Janet has more than 20 years in the investor relations field. Janet currently provides investor relations and capital markets counsel as Principal, Endeavour IR.  Previously, Janet served as vice president of investor relations at Fortis Inc., senior vice president of investor relations for Loblaw Companies and vice president of investor relations for Nexen Inc., a global energy company based in Calgary. She led investor relations for Nortel Networks.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology and English) from the University of Toronto. Janet serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of IR Magazine and is a frequent speaker on investor relations and shareholder engagement, including IR Think Tanks and executive management programs. She holds numerous awards and recognition for investor relations, including over 25 #1 awards in Canada. In 2012 Janet was named one of the “Top 25 Investor Relations Officers of All Time” in a global ranking of investor relations officers by Investor Relations magazine.

Ian Tharp, Vice President, Investor Relations, Algonquin Power & Utilities

Ian Tharp joined Algonquin in January, 2016 and leads the company’s efforts to articulate its strategy and performance to a growing set of institutional investors and sell-side analysts. Ian has been with Algonquin during a transformative period, with both acquisitions and organic growth leading to a doubling of the Company’s asset base over the past two years. During this time, Ian and his team have been recognized with five IR Magazine nominations and IR Magazine Award - Canada.

Ian has over 25 years of progressive capital markets and industry experience, with a focus on Renewable Energy, Electric Utilities, and Sustainability. Having worked on the buy-side as a venture capital / project finance portfolio manager, and through his work with some of Canada`s largest Canadian-listed companies as a sell-side equity research analyst, Ian has a depth of experience in articulating compelling, high-growth opportunities to the investment community.

Ian holds an Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA Charter Holder.
