Event Description
Aimed at making markets fairer and more transparent, the European Union's revised Markets in Financials Instruments Directive (MiFID) impacts everything from how firms trade to how research is distributed. With MiFID II set to come into effect January 3, 2018, Investor Relations Officers must begin preparing for significant changes in research coverage. This lunch will discuss the impacts of the new MiFID II rules across the financial industry and help IRO's prepare for the research industry shakeout. This event is eligible for 2 CEUs.

Garry Wilson, Director of IR Services, Eagle IR (UK)
Garry is a founding partner of Eagle IR, a UK based investor relations consultancy specialising in cross-order services to North American publicly-traded companies. Eagle IR is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the industry and continues to provide corporate clients with the support in Europe it would expect of an investor relations manager. In more recent years the firm has extended its corporate access support into other geographies including Canada, the USA and Australia as clients look for an alternative to using the sell-side.
With the imminent arrival of MiFID, a European commission initiative that includes breaking down the currently bundled services of the sell-side provided to European investors, Eagle has found a new niche in working with investors on their corporate access requirements. Prior to founding Eagle, Garry worked as an investor relations consultant with firms in London and New York. His financial career began as an investment manager with an Edinburgh, Scotland, based firm before working as a part of CIBC's investment management arm in London, England. He began his career in engineering before gaining an Honors Degree in Economics from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.
