CIRI Alberta Chair's Message
I’m very excited and honoured to take on the role of chair of the CIRI Alberta Chapter and to work with a fantastic group of industry peers. We have a high bar to meet, with a lot of credit going to our out-going chair, Helen Kelly who I’d personally like to thank for drawing me in to be more involved with this vibrant, fun community that she’s been a big part of sponsoring.
I recently had the privilege of co-hosting the CIRI national conference in Halifax. As we highlighted in the co-chair letter:
“There seems to be an ever-growing number of factors and distractions that influence the life of an Investor Relations practitioner. Whether it’s the continual shift from active to passive investment strategies, the increased influence of ESG and Sustainable Development oriented funds, or the emergence of different investment options like ETF’s and Liquid Alternative Funds; then add in the changing regulations that influence the way we engage with investors (ie MiFID), an IRO’s job is never boring.”
On behalf of the Executive, we’re committed to creating a range of stimulating and educational programming for our membership that will enhance your professional development and provide great (fun) networking opportunities. As most of you already know, the IR community is very collaborative and sharing and we want to build your sense of community with your fellow IR professionals, within the CIRI chapter.
Nationally, I’d like to highlight that we’ve recently aligned with the Rotman School of Management in Toronto. This partnership will take the CPIR designation to a new level of stature and a great educational opportunity in support of your career development.
And lastly, I’m very excited to be apart of our Alberta chapter in showcasing our great city for next year’s CIRI Annual Conference which will be hosted in Calgary June 7-9, 2020.
I’d like to encourage all of you to reach out, to any of our Executive, and share your programming ideas or concerns; and to participate in as many of our events as you can. I look forward to seeing you at a future event.
Chair, CIRI Alberta
