According to a new study by the Canadian Nuclear Association, climate change is considered the most extreme issue Canada currently faces despite unprecedented economic and employment uncertainties due to the pandemic. How is your company addressing this critical issue and is it doing enough? During this session we will dive deep on climate-related disclosures made by issuers as they consider their risk profile; take a closer look at TCFD standards; hear whether the current level of disclosure is satisfying the needs of investors; and discuss opportunities for improvement.

Margaret Childe, Head, ESG Canada, Manulife Investment Management
Maggie supports the Canada-based investment teams with ESG integration research and process, company engagement, and proxy voting. She leads the development of our ESG credit assessment framework and co-leads the development of our United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals analytical methodology.
Lara Gaede, Partner, Securities Centre of Excellence, Deloitte
Lara Gaede is a partner with Deloitte, leading the national Securities & Regulatory Advisory and a leader in Climate Sustainability Reporting and Assurance. Prior to joining Deloitte a little over a year ago, Lara spent twenty years with the Alberta Securities Commission, first in Corporate Finance and later as a member of the Alberta Securities Commission’s Executive team as Chief Accountant and CFO. For a six year term, she was also a member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board helping to influence IFRS and set Canadian accounting standards. In addition to being a CPA, CA, Lara is a CFA and holds the ICD.d designation.
Asim Imran, Vice President, Investor Relations, Royal Bank of Canada
As Vice President of Investor Relations, Asim is pesponsible for strengthening relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, analysts, and rating agencies as well as providing RBC's senior management and Board of Directors with market intelligence. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, Asim joined PricewaterhouseCooper’s Audit and Assurance Group in 2002 before moving on to the firm’s Transaction Services practice. He then joined UBS in 2007 as an equity research associate covering Canadian Financials, including the Canadian banks. Prior to joining RBC Investor Relations in March, 2016, Asim was most recently the lead equity research analyst at Macquarie covering the Canadian insurance sector for a number of years.
