CIRI is dedicated to advancing the stature and credibility of the investor relations profession and the competency of its members, thereby contributing to the transparency and integrity of the Canadian capital markets.

2. How does CIRI advance the stature of the IR profession?

At Canada’s publicly-traded companies, the role of the investor relations officer is becoming increasingly senior and strategic. CIRI contributes to the advancement in stature of the profession through advocacy initiatives, including proactive submissions to regulatory bodies to effect change or raise awareness of IR-related issues. These efforts increase the integrity and transparency of the Canadian capital markets.

CIRI also works closely with other associations to raise awareness of the importance of IR and the critical role it plays, including the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Financial Executives Institute and the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries, to name a few.

3. How does CIRI advance the competency and credibility of its members?

CIRI members are kept abreast of IR-related issues and best IR practices through ongoing relevant professional development events, several timely publications and the networking opportunities we provide. CIRI offers members many different ways to connect with each other to share experiences and expertise, from meeting other members at CIRI events, participating in a Mentorship Program, exchanging information through the Volunteer Advisory Network, and through CIRI’s members-only LinkedIn group.

CIRI also offers a Certification Program for IR professionals.
